Dillsboro, IN — A massive fire destroyed several buildings at Laughery Valley Ag Co-op on US 50 east of Dillsboro.
The fire was first reported around 4:30 Thursday afternoon, and heavy smoke and flames could be seen for miles.
Crews used a defensive attack on the flames, and water had to be brought in because there weren’t enough water sources near the scene.
Firefighters were able to keep the flames away from a large propane tank at the back of the business.
Fourteen fire departments from Dearborn, Ripley, and Ohio counties responded, along with three emergency rescue units.
Three police departments assisted with traffic control after US 50 was shut down during firefighting operations.
Crews cleared the scene shortly before midnight.
There were no injuries reported.
A damage estimate is not available.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
