Mary L. Cox, 103, of Greensburg, formerly of Westport, passed away at 10:49 a.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Morning Breeze Retirement Community and Healthcare Center. She was born on March 27, 1918 in Decatur County, the daughter of Walter & Grace (Moffett) Wiley. She was a lifelong resident of Decatur County. Mary had retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1981 after 29 years of service. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in North Vernon. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing Euchre and Rook and spending time with her grandchildren. She married William Wayne Cox on August 3, 1935 in Greensburg and he preceded her in death on October 16, 1998. Survivors include her daughter, Nona (Charles) Poole of Greensburg; her grandchildren, Shawna Poole, Sheila (Kelly) Richart, Brian (Kim) Poole, Brent (Karma) Poole, Marie (Jake) Akers, Wayne Reel, Tahonee Reel; her 17 great grandchildren; 25 great-great grandchildren and her great-great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Nina Reel; grandson, Bill Reel; great grandsons, Wayne Reel, Jr. and Corey McClanahan; sister, Thelma Wood; brothers, Lewis, Paul, Loran and Elmer Wiley. The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Bartlett officiating. Burial will follow at the Westport Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideon Bible Program or Westport Volunteer Fire Department through the funeral home.
