It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Kay Hershberger, of Greenwood, Indiana on December 23, 2025. Mary was born on April 30, 1947, to Francis and Ruth Wintz in Batesville, Indiana. Mary was the beloved wife of David Hershberger and a devoted mother to Marie (Hershberger) Catanzaro and Mark Hershberger. She was a cherished mother-in-law to Dave Catanzaro and Holly (Chambers) Hershberger. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brother, Jim Wintz. She is survived by her brother, Bill Wintz, sisters-in-law Connie Wintz and Kathy Wintz, and brothers-in-law Mike Hershberger and Rex Hershberger.
Mary will be remembered for her unwavering support for her children, her love of close connections with friends, and providing true empathy and understanding for those in need. Mary always took the opportunity to participate in new experiences, whether it was trying new restaurants, saying yes to a golf trip with friends, going to Destin with the family, or just appreciating a new book with her Heartland Readers Book Club. Mary showed her devotion for her family through her cooking and often sought new recipes for her loved ones to enjoy.
A celebration of life will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Greenwood, Indiana, on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with the funeral to follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place following the funeral at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Mary’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family as well as all who knew and loved her.
