Mary C. Smith, 55, of Richlands, North Carolina, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2023 at her home in Richlands, North Carolina. Mary was born on Thursday, January 18, 1968 in Madison, Indiana; daughter of Sue (Adkins) Myers. Mary was a social worker where she loved working with children, and nothing brought her greater joy than to reunite them with their parents. She also worked as a Transportation Coordinator for the Southwest District in Onslow County. She enjoyed reading, crafting, working with kids, and spending time with her family. Mary’s greatest joy was being with her grandchildren.
Mary will be missed by her sons Jonathon Smith of Columbus and Joshua Smith of Versailles; daughter Ashley (Ryan) Duncan of Richlands, North Carolina; dad Ron (Connie) Myers of Milan; brothers Wayne (Judy) Evans of Milan, David “Gene” (Alice) Myers of Osgood, Jack (Cathy) Myers of Milan, Daniel Myers of Milan, and Chester Leatherbury of Milton, Kentucky; sisters Tonya Glacken of Batesville, Lavonne (Jamie) Craft of Milan, and Courtney Myers of Moores Hill; and grandchildren Landon, Brayden, Catherine, Owen, Alexandria, Emerson, Alyse, and Thomas.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Mark Smith; her mother Sue Myers; sister Tina Marie McKeown; and brother James Lawrence Leatherbury II.
Family and friends may gather in remembering Mary from 5:00-7:00 PM, Monday, December 18, 2023 at the Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan. A service will immediately follow at 7:00 PM. Memorials may be given in honor of Mary to the family.
