Mary Ann Vinson

 

Mary Ann Vinson, 72, of Aurora, IN, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025, in Aurora, Indiana.

She was born on February 7, 1953, in Batesville, IN, the daughter of the late Zephery Carter and Bertha (Sebree) Carter.

Mary was a dedicated member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Throughout her life, she worked at Hil-Rom, Schenley Distillery, and Batesville Casket, where she formed lasting relationships and contributed to her community. In addition to her professional career, Mary was a passionate volunteer, helping local schools with the “Think Smart, Stay Safe” program and giving her time to St. John’s School while her grandson attended.

Mary was known for her love of cleanliness and cooking. She took great joy in caring for her grandchildren and had a special fondness for dancing, always finding ways to express herself joyfully.

Mary is survived by her loving spouse, Robert “Bob” Vinson, three stepchildren, Travis (Diane) Vinson of Stockbridge, GA, John (Julie) Vinson of Severn, MD, and Bobbie Jo (Trinity) Aston of Eureka, Montana; one sister Betty (Paul) Dietrich of Hamilton, OH. Also survived by eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Zephery Carter; mother, Bertha Lee Carter; daughter, Laurinda Maiden; four brothers, Charles Carter, Joe Carter, Robert “Bob” Carter, Billy Ray Carter; two sisters, Barbara A. Thayer and Candy Carter; and her late husband, David M. Bedford.

Friends and family will be received at on Friday from 11:00 A.M. until time of services at 1:00 P.M. held at Rullman Hunger Funeral Home 219 Mechanic Street Aurora, Indiana 47001 with Pete Bryk officiating.

Interment will follow in the Greendale Cemetery, Greendale, IN. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, the Sjögren’s Syndrome Foundation, American Heart Association or St. John Lutheran Church.
