Marvin B. Herbert, 75, Greensburg, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2017 at the St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis. Born, July 19, 1941 in Greensburg, Indiana, he was the son of Bernard J. and Bertha B. (Young) Herbert. Marvin graduated from Greensburg High School in 1961. He farmed and worked for 18 years at BCA. After he left BCA he became a full time farmer. He had also served in the National Guard. He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He was married to Nancy Koester on January 17, 1970 and she survives. He is also survived by one son, Steve Herbert and his fiancé, Michelle Gindling; four grandchildren, Hannah, Hayden, Halle, and Hudson Herbert. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Merle & Delmar Herbert; two sisters, Evelyn Roszell and Mary Ann Herbert. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 7:00 p.m. at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. The family will also receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg with Rev. John Meyer officiating. Interment will be held in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, with Marvin’s love of animals and farming, we would like a donation in his memory be made to either “The Decatur County Animal Shelter” or to the local “(FFA) Future Farmers of America”.
