Martha Jane Sedler, 80, of Aurora, IN, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, May 2, 2024.
Martha was born October 23, 1943 to Edward and Virginia (Beckemeyer) Knue. She grew up in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, attended St. Lawrence Catholic School, and graduated from Lawrenceburg High School.
She was married to her loving husband, James Sedler, for almost 59 years. They rarely spent a day apart. Jim continued to visit her every day when she was moved to Ridgewood Health Care Center in March of 2015. Together, they raised three children: Michele, Jim “Hunk”, and Sheri.
Martha was a devoted wife and mother. She took great pride in her family and instilled strong values in her children. She treasured her seven grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. She made endless PBJ sandwiches, Saturday cheeseburgers, and bowls of ketchup noodles, hosted weekend sleep-overs, watched the movie ‘Home Alone’ more times than we can count, and treated the children to weekly yard sale outings. Grandma always made each child feel special and cherished. In later years, she very much enjoyed visits from her great-grandchildren and proudly showed them off to the residents and staff at Ridgewood Health Care Center.
A stay-at-home mom for many years, she later worked as a custodian for Lawrenceburg High School and in the cafeteria at Aurora Middle School. She also sold Avon for many years. Martha was a long-time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Aurora Fire Department #2 Women’s Auxiliary.
Martha will be sadly missed by her devoted spouse, James Sedler; children, Michele (Frank) Mitchell, Jim “Hunk” (Denise) Sedler, and Sheri (Tom) Wilson; grandchildren, Kevin (Rachael) Wilson, Stephanie Spenny, Alex (Annie) Mitchell, Kelsie (Brayden) Solly, Kailin Mitchell, Ashley Sedler (fiancé Andrei Bonham), Matthew Sedler; great-grandchildren, Kamden and Kyler Wilson, Emersyn, Brecken, Jensen, and Kolsten Solly; siblings, Melinda (Gary) Thompson, Millie (Steve) Protsik, and Mike (Connie) Knue; sisters-in-law, Bonny (Jon) Prudhomme, Holly (Jerry) Stow, Jo (Rick) Sloan; brothers-in-law, Kerry Brunner and Bob(Marla) Brunner; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Virginia Knue; siblings, Margaret (Melvin) Knigga and Mary Caldwell; brothers-in-law, Marc (Debbie) Brunner and Ron (Tammy) Brunner.
Friends will be received Wednesday, May 8, 2024 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, 219 Mechanic Street, Aurora, IN. 47001.
A Blessing Service will be held at 6:00 pm with Deacon Bob Decker officiating. Martha will be laid to rest at the convenience of the family at River View Cemetery.

A special thank you to the staff at Ridgewood Health Care Center where Martha was affectionately known as “Mama.” Many of you have become like family to Mom and our family, and we will never forget your kindness.
