Marlene Ann (Bastian) Hixson

Marlene Ann (Bastian) Hixson, 81, of Batesville, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2022. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Robert L. and Anna Louise (Flanigan) Bastian on February 2, 1941.

She was a graduate of Western Hills High School in Cincinnati and later went on to marry her husband, Darrell Hixson. He preceded her in death on September 17, 2016. She has missed him immensely and this reunion was long awaited.

Marlene enjoyed nature, bird watching, gardening and traveling. She never seemed to miss a moment of taking in all of God’s beauty around her. She was a faithful member of Batesville Christian Church as well.

Marlene had a special way of being the glue that kept all of her family, both immediate and extended, together. She was always at her happiest while hosting family gatherings. She will without a doubt be deeply missed by her family and friends who she cherished greatly.

Marlene is survived by her children, Elaine (Tim) Maple, Paul Williams (Julie Kobes), Tim (Sandy) Williams, Robert Williams, Tom Williams; step daughter, Lynn Hixson; grandchildren, Ryan and Lauren Williams, Jonathon and Michael (Hillary) Maple; great grandchildren, Caleb Williams, Maggie and Quinn Maple; sibilings, Pat (Doug) Stenger, Rea Bastian (Dave Brock), Terry (Bob) Butler, David (Nancy) Bastian, and Jerry (Rhonda) Bastian; brother-in-law, Ron Stenger; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Darrell; siblings, Robert Bastian, Grace Stenger, and Kevin Bastian; and sisters-in-law, Darlene Bastian and Carole Bastian.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 27, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM with funeral services beginning at 3:00 PM all at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville.

In lieu of flowers, Marlene’s family has kindly asked that memorials be given to Margaret Mary Health Foundation Hospice Fund or to Batesville Christian Church by bringing to the services or mailing to Meyers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 202, Batesville, Indiana 47006.
