Marjorie L. Bedel

Marjorie L. Bedel, age 87 of Oldenburg, died Saturday, November 25, 2017 at St. Andrew’s Health Campus.  Born May 2, 1930 in Franklin County Indiana, she is the daughter of Louise (Nee: Pulskamp) and Theodore Tebbe.  She married Thomas M. Bedel July 30, 1947 at Holy Family Church in Oldenburg and he preceded her in death on January 12, 1995.  She worked 17 years for the Srs. of St. Francis Convent in the housekeeping department.

Marge liked working in her garden and always kept a meticulous yard.  Other interests included working crossword puzzles, word search puzzles, countless hours of playing solitaire and the long winter months were spent putting together jigsaw puzzles and the harder the better. She was a long time member of the church bereavement committee as well as a Girl Scout leader.

Family was important to her and she dearly loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Kids, both big and small, would help themselves to the candy bowl which was always filled with M&M’s.  An excellent baker, her family spoke about her delicious treats and that she always had cookies, a pie or a cake on the counter.  Apparently the cookies were a little harder to come by.  Marge would make them ahead and freeze them, only to find out they would disappear from the freezer.  Her kids just smiled and shrugged.

Marge is survived by daughters Ginny (Paul) Selkirk of Oldenburg, Bev Unger of Westport, Indiana; sons Steve (Jean) Bedel of Oldenburg, Randy (Shonda) Bedel of Oldenburg; brother Loren Tebbe of Greensburg; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.  In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by son Thomas G. Bedel and brothers Cyril, Orville, Herschel, Wilmer and Gerald Tebbe.

Visitation is Thursday, November 30th, from 9 – 11 a.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home.  Funeral services follow at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church with Rev. Carl Langenderfer O.F.M. and Rev. Humbert Moster O.F.M. officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family requests memorials to the Holy Family Capital Improvement Fund or Margaret Mary Health Foundation Hospice.
