Marilyn Y. (Miller) Centers

Marilyn Y. (Miller) Centers, 83, of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, passed away peacefully Saturday October 3, 2020 in Greendale, IN with her family by her side. She was born August 17, 1937 in Connersville, IN, daughter of the late Ellis Miller and Emma (Sheldon) Steiner.

Marilyn graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts from Mount Saint Joseph College in 1985 and she earned her Master of Business Administration as Magna Cum Laude from Xavier University in 1988, both while working full time and raising a family.

Marilyn was a Medicaid Legal Assistant at Denmure Law Office for 20 years, retiring in February 2020. Prior to that, she was the Director of Personnel and Administrative Services at the Community Mental Health Center for 30 years. Marilyn was a member of St. John Lutheran Church (Bellair) almost all of her life. She has served the church family in many capacities, such as, Worship Committee, Choir, Hand Bell Choir, Vacation Bible School, and Sunday School teacher. She was also very active in Phi Beta Psi Sorority for almost 25 years. She served as past President and Recording Secretary. Marilyn was an encourager. She always had a kind word to say to everyone that she met. She showed her faith through her actions by kindness and willingness to help. Marilyn enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, and Word Connect. Her family was very important to her and she will be greatly missed by her family, church family and all who knew her.

Marilyn is survived by her loving family, daughter Kim (Tom) Schrad of Winchester, OH, son Tim (Lesa) Centers of Greendale, IN; grandchildren, Natalie (Brison) Centers of Silverton, OH and Joe Centers of Silverton, OH; brothers, Darryl “Darry” (Linda) Miller of Nevada, MO, Richard “Corky” (Sandy) Bockhorst of Vista, CA, and Michael Bockhorst of Cincinnati, OH; brother-In-law Don (Carol) Centers; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Bobby Joe “B.J.” Centers, stepfather Herbert Bockhorst, mother Emma Steiner, and father Ellis Miller.

Friends will be received Wednesday, October 7, 2020, 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at St. John Lutheran Church (Bellaire), 4937 SR 48, Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Private Services will be held at St. John Lutheran Church (Bellaire) at the family’s convenience.

Interment will be at St. John Lutheran Cemetery (Bellaire), Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to St. John Lutheran Church (Bellaire). If unable to attend services, please call the funeral home office at (812) 926-1450 and we will notify the family of your donation with a card.

Due to the current situation dealing with COVID-19, we are following the directives from Governor Holcomb and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention concerning large events and mass gatherings. The family deeply appreciates the support and love shown from friends, but the health and well being of everyone in our community is of top priority.
