Greendale, IN — A man is dead after he was struck and killed Thursday night while trying to push a disabled vehicle on US 50 in Greendale.
Indiana State Police troopers say a 2010 Kia passenger car driven by 19-year-old Lee Thomas was westbound on US 50 near Green Comm Drive when the vehicle became disabled in the roadway.
Thomas got out of the car and tried to push it from the rear while his 15-year-old passenger steered the vehicle from the driver’s seat.
Troopers say Thomas and the vehicle were struck behind by a 2012 Volkswagen passenger car driven by 76-year-old Edward Brueggman of Lawrenceburg.
Thomas’ car was then pushed into the path of an eastbound vehicle driven by 37-year-old Jonathan Hill, and the two vehicles collided.
As a result of the collision, Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene.
Brueggman and Thomas’ juvenile passenger were treated for minor injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
Toxicology results are pending but alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be factors in the collision.
Troopers from the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post were assisted by ISP Crash Reconstructionists, the Greendale Police and Fire departments, and the Dearborn County Coroner’s Office.
Thomas was from Cleves, Ohio while Hill is from Amelia, Ohio.
