SHELBYVILLE, Ind. — A man is dead after a police-involved shooting in Shelbyville Tuesday night.
Indiana State Police say the incident occurred at a home on the south side of town. Local police were called to the scene on a report of shots fired at a home.
When officers arrived on scene, they found homeowner Steven C. Oliger outside the rear of the home, and police say he was armed with a revolver.
Police say Oliger fired a shot, and an officer returned fire. Oliger fell onto the deck and was later pronounced deceased on the scene from a gunshot wound to the head. Investigators say it is unclear is Oliger was shot by police, or if the wound was self-inflicted.
No one else was injured during the incident.
