Man arrested after fleeing from police

DEARBORN COUNTY, Ind. — An Indianapolis man was arrested on I-74 in Dearborn County after police say he tried to flee from them.

According to police, Richard A. Morales, 28, was arrested on charges of Resisting Law Enforcement, Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Reckless Driving, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Paraphernalia.

Indiana State Police say the attempted to stop Morales for a burnt out headlight, but instead of stopping, Morales fled from them at speeds over 100 miles per hour.

About five miles later when he tried to exit the interstate in St. Leon, he wrecked his vehicle.

He and a passenger were evaluated at the Dearborn County Hospital before being booked into the Dearborn County Jail.

During a search of the vehicle, troopers found marijuana, a pipe, a scale, and a gas mask with a large smoking pipe attached to it.

The passenger was released and is not facing any charges.
