(Batesville, IN) – Batesville resident Chris Lowery is stepping down as Commissioner of the Indiana Commission for Higher Education (ICHE), effective October 10.
“Serving alongside Commission members and staff, Governor (Mike) Braun, (Education) Secretary (Dr. Katie) Jenner, leaders of our higher education institutions, and our fellow Hoosiers has been a privilege. And, most importantly, serving students has been the highest honor of my professional career, and on that has been humbling and blessed,” he said in a written statement.
Lowery says he will spend more time working and writing with his wife, Jerilyn.
He says she started a company late last year to serve as a platform for writing and publishing various works.
Lowery says he plans to support her while writing and publishing his own works.
He was named Commissioner of the ICHE in March 2022.
