Lois Jean Tichenor, 87, Westport

Lois Jean Tichenor, 87, of Westport, passed away at 3:44 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2024, at the Willows of Greensburg. She was born on December 11, 1936, in Russell Springs, Kentucky, the daughter of Bryan & Nellie (Sullivan) Atchley. She was born and raised in Russell Springs and spent most of her life in Decatur County. She devoted her life to faithfully supporting her husband’s ministry, serving as a loving and devoted ministers’ wife. She loved sewing, crocheting, playing the piano, gardening and bird watching. She married Charles M. Tichenor on March 4, 1956 at the Friendship-Rodney Separate Baptist Church and he preceded her in death on September 22, 2018. Survivors include her daughters, Beverly (Tim) Blount of Gulliver, Michigan; Cheryl (Randy) Yeager of North Vernon, Indiana; Marcella Tichenor of Safford, Arizona; Karin Tichenor of Westport, Indiana her sons, Terry (Vicki) Tichenor of Shoals, Indiana and Burl (Beth) Tichenor of Martinsville, Indiana; 16 Grandchildren and 30 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Alma Eades and Opal Gentry; brothers, Joseph Atchley; Chester Atchley; Dale Atchley; Millard Atchley and Dwayne Atchley and a granddaughter Christina Yeager. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at the Bass and Gasper Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry Ridge officiating. The burial will be at the Rodney Cemetery. A time of visitation will be on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 4:00 p.m.  until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
