(Brookville, IN) – Franklin County Ag and Natural Resources Safety Day took place Thursday at the Fairgrounds in Brookville.
Organizers say the event for local 3rd and 4th grade students combines fun with education.
“We got together several years ago and started this program to promote agriculture and conservation in Franklin County, and we decided we would start with some of the younger students in our school system, so we chose the 3rd and 4th graders,” said Ag Day Organizing Committee Chairman Mike Kohlsdorf. “This is an effort to expose them to the different aspects of agriculture, livestock, grain crops, and machinery, and to expose the 4th graders to conservation and safety measures that they may encounter on the farm. ”
Volunteers from a variety of local organizations and agencies staffed a number of stations at this year’s event.
