(Franklin County, IN) – Former Franklin County Commissioner Tom Linkel has announced he is running for the District 2 seat he once held.

Linkel’s name will be on the Republican for the May 5 Primary Election.

“Serving as your Franklin County Commissioner in the past was an honor I never took lightly. Every decision made at the county level affects our roads, our public safety services, and how your hard-earned tax dollars are spent,” Linkel wrote on social media. “I’ve always believed those decisions should be made with common sense, transparency, and respect for the people who call this county home. That’s why I’ve decided to run again for Franklin County Commissioner.”

Linkel says his goal is to reduce the tax burden on county residents.

“That means working to reduce the wheel tax to the minimum amount required by the state and making sure we are not over-taxing our residents.
We must give homeowners, farming operations, and businesses relief from over-taxation so Franklin County remains a desirable place to live, farm, and start or grow a business,” he said. “I believe in maintaining strong infrastructure, supporting our county departments, protecting landowner rights, and making responsible decisions with taxpayer money.”

Linkel says he looks forward to visiting with residents to hear ideas on how to move Franklin County forward.
