Leising Turns Down White House Invite to Discuss Redistricting

State Senator Jean Leising. (R-Oldenburg)

(Oldenburg, IN) – Local State Sen. Jean Leising confirms to WRBI that she was invited to the White House as part of President Donald Trump’s push to influence the Indiana congressional redistricting issue.

Leising, a Republican from Oldenburg, came out last week against mid-cycle redistricting.

“We have not even seen a map,” Leising said. “So, we were being asked by Washington to support a map redistricting of congressional districts without seeing what they were really proposing.”

Leising was one of two state senators who received invitations to meet with the administration’s team in Washington, D.C., but she declined the offer…

“I don’t waffle and change my opinion when I make a firm decision like that,” she added. “I’m sure they were disappointed but the reality is it’s disappointing to me when were asked to support a map that we haven’t seen.”

Sen. Jean Leising appeared on Monday’s edition of The Daily Pod.
