(Statehouse) – Several Southeastern Indiana students joined State Sen. Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg) recently to testify in support of Senate Bill 146 before the Committee on Commerce and Technology.

The measure calls for making regulatory changes to youth employment laws.

The bill would allow someone at least 18 years old to ring up and serve alcoholic beverages at restaurants under certain conditions.

It would also provide an exemption from the law when it comes to employment of minors for a legal entity in which a parent of the employed minor has ownership interest.

Leising represents Senate District 42, which includes Decatur, Fayette, Ripley and Rush counties, and portions of Franklin, Jennings and Shelby counties.
