Larry Molnar, age 74 of Batesville, Indiana, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2024, at St. Andrew’s Health Campus in Batesville. Born September 22, 1949, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he is the son of Bernard and Ruth (Nee: Wymer) Molnar. He married Ranie Caudill on December 19, 1970, in Newport, Kentucky and she preceded him in death on March 18, 2003.
Larry served our country first in the Criminal Investigative Division of the U.S. Army and later as a Criminal Investigator for the Department of Defense. During his time in the Army, Larry and his family lived in various parts of the world settling in Batesville after retirement to be close to his wife Ranie’s family.
During retirement, Larry found several hobbies to keep him busy. He re-found a love of art and painting, researching and documenting family history, and woodwork. His grandson Jacob will always cherish the time spent with his grandpa building a gun cabinet and several other items.
Larry loved each of his six grandchildren and found joy in finding them special little gifts that showed each of their unique personalities. Whether it was a Lego set of a hair salon for the oldest grandchild or a goat pendant for the youngest, they knew grandpa loved them and kept up with what they were doing day to day.
He is survived by his daughter Rebecca (Jason) Antico of Batesville; sons Clayton (Cindy) Molnar of Batesville and Harold (Katie) Molnar of Greensburg, Indiana and six grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife Ranie, Larry was preceded in death by his brother Bernard Molnar.
Visitation will be Friday, March 15th, from 9 – 11 a.m., at Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville. Funeral services follow at 11 a.m., with Gerald Dreyer officiating.
