This Weekend, The Oldenburg Girls Soccer team played in the Batesville Soccer Invititational where the OA girls came out on top.
Oldenburg played Centerville High School where OA came out with the win 4-0. Ella Lamping really came off the bench and brought energy to this game. She scored all four of the goals in the first game. Ella’s first goal came from a follow up shot off of the keeper at the 23rd minute of the first half. Her second goal came just 7 minutes later when Elizabeth Schulte got a cross from Kirsten Ricke and placed a ball on the ground to Lamping. Lamping’s third goal came from senior Olivia Lewis on the assist. Her last goal came at the beginning of the second half from a through ball from freshman Ava Geers. We ended the game with 43 shots and 20 shots on goal to Centerville’s 3 shots. OA improved to 4-1 on the season.
OA’s championship game came against Batesville High School, where OA came out on top 1-0.
This was a very even match up and definitely a rival game between these two schools. The only goal of the game came from a cross by Margaret Glaser who found Ella Lamping who hit the cross bar and sophomore, Haleigh Reed was there to head the ball into the net. Sarah Wilder and Elizabeth Schulte did a great job controlling the middle of the field and distributing the ball, as they should. Freshman Ava Geers and Haleigh Reed were very strong up top and put the pressure on Batesville’s defense. Geers really showed her presence on the field Regan Weberding came up with 13 saves in the game, this was by far the best game Weberding has played. OA ended with 14 shots with 10 on goal and Batesville ended with 14 shots with 9 on goal.
OA improves to 5-1. Twister’s begin a very busy week ahead, they will play Monday night against Switzerland County at the “graveyard”.
