The Greensburg Lady Pirates soccer team hosted the Lady Lions of Rushville Saturday morning in an EIAC contest. The Lady Pirates cruised to a 5-0 win and notched their first conference win of the season.
Maddi Hellmich got the scoring started eleven minutes into the contest when she connected the pass from Michaela Myers for the 1-0 lead. Nine minutes later Hellmich crossed a ball to Kasey Moeller and the Lady Pirates held a 2-0 halftime lead.
Moeller continued to have a hot foot as she connected another goal from a ball that got loose off the Rushville defenders two minutes into the second half. Seven minutes later Danielle Schroeder played a nice pass to Cara Zeigler that found the back of the net. The final score of the game came with thirteen minutes to play when Emma Overmyer played a ball across the face that Alyssa Allen connected for her first ever varsity goal.
The Lady Pirates outshot the Lady Lions 36-3 on the day. McKella Lynette recorded the win in goal making two saves and Emily Lowe made one save. Taking shots for the Lady Pirates were: Maddi Hellmich, Moeller, Zeigler, Schroeder, Allen, Myers, Overmyer, Rylie Smith, Stephanie Bruns, Brooke Martin, Julia Pacilio, Emma Hellmich and Sierra Aylsworth. All team members were able to play and take part in the third shut-out victory of the season.
The win brings the Lady Pirates record to 6-5-1 on the season and 1-3 in EIAC play. The Lady Pirates will host the Lady Wildcats from Franklin County on Thursday for another EIAC contest. Kickoff will be at 5PM on the Pirate Pitch.
