Lady Indians and Cougars fall, Toppers win

In girls high scool basketball in Hope Thursday night, Milan lost 65-40 at Hauser.

The Jets Madelyn Poe logged a game-high 26 points.  Teammate Kyliegh Parrott posted 14.

For the Indians, Rachel Holt also scored 14 while Audrey Schmidt followed with 13.

The Milan JV fell 40-32.

In a MHC matchup, South Decatur dropped a 53-48 decision at Morristown.

The Yellowjackets placed three players in double figure scoring.  Reagan Kleine led the floor with 18 points, Nevaeh Sanders threw in 13 and Gracie Laster added 10.  Kleine and Maggie Lutes shared top rebounding honors with seven each.

The Cougars also saw three players get into double digits.  Loryn Pate paced the Westport ladies with 16 points while Brook Somers and Kiley Best both scored 11.  Brook Somers and Makalya Somers combined for 21 rebounds with the freshman Makalya carding 11.

Shawe’s varsity picked up 34-28 come-from-behind home win over Providence.  The Toppers trailed by eight at the half.  This was the first-ever win by Shawe over the Pioneers.
