North Decatur won the South Dearborn Girls Basketball Tip Off Classic Saturday.

In the opening round, the Chargers fought off a late surge by New Washington and held on to beat the Mustangs 61-60.  Ella Kunz led ND with 17 points and hit the game winning free throw with three seconds left.

Madelyn Bohman and Madi Allen had 15 and 13 points respectively.

The other opening round matchup saw South Dearborn defeat Clarksville 42-25.  Natalie Rupp was the top SD scorer with 10, Keirsten Dixon followed with nine and Jillian Bond added eight.

That set up the Chargers and Knights in the title game where North Decatur came out on top 49-23.

Charger scoring was very balanced and was paced by Allen with 11 points and Kacey Barker with nine.

For the Knights, Rupp, again, had a team high 10 points. Quinn Heizer followed with six.

We thank the North Decatur and South Dearborn basketball programs for the information.
