Shelbyville, IN – The North Decatur Lady Chargers opened up postseason play vs. Edinburgh at Southwestern Shelby High School, with one thing in mind, a sectional championship.
The Chargers came ready to play with the season on the line and proved they were the better team in the first half, flexing their muscles and jumping out to a 10-0 lead after the first quarter. For all of the stat lovers, that 10-0 run is called a “kill shot” and according to Evan Miyakawa, a team with at least one “kill shot” run wins 71% of the time.
Anyways, after your random sports stat of the day, the Chargers continued their success in the first half and took a 20+ point lead into the locker room. Halftime score, 28-4.
The Chargers held their own in the second half as well, outscoring the Lancers 21-17 in a closer second half, but the Lancers were no match for North Decatur’s pouncing defense and relentless, balanced offensive attack led by senior Madi Allen who has 18 points. Carmen Thackery added 8 points, Ally Whitaker had 8 as well. Final score, 49-21 in favor of the Chargers. More scoring and stats are provided below!
