In the second half, the Lady Bulldogs started off slow and were not able to find the back of the net for the first 15 minutes. Finally, Abbey Prickel intercepted a Rushville pass and carried the ball from center back through the Rushville defense for a great far post finish. The Lady Bulldogs would add 4 more in the second half. It was Werner finding Liz Heidlage on a crossing pattern as Heidlage finished to the far post. Werner finished off her hat trick on an unassisted goal to make it 9 – 0. Batesville made 11 substitutions with 18 minutes to play and the second group would add two more goals to the tally. It was Tristan Rowlett and Bella Britch, scoring for the Lady Bulldogs. With just over a minute to play, Rushville would make the score 11-1 after they found their way past the Batesville defense.
“It was nice to get some confidence in our scoring ability tonight. We had several 1-touch finished tonight after working on this for much of the practice week. Ellie Cassidy and Abbey Prickel did a great job keeping our defense organized for the match.” Coach Laker commented on the game.
Batesville will be back in action next Thursday as they travel to Greensburg for their second conference match of the season.
