Lady Bulldogs Win Big Against Lady Patriots In Season Opener

The Batesville Lady Bulldogs opened up their 2018 season with a convincing 12-0 win over the visiting Union County Lady Patriots. The Lady Bulldogs netted 6 goals in both halves of the match. The defense held strong throughout the match and recorded their first shutout of the season while only allowing 1 shot from the Lady Patriots late in the match. Hailey Mohr started off the scoring for the Lady Bulldogs with back-to-back goals at the 35th and 33rd minute mark of the first half.  Carlie Werner added the 3rd goal off a nice assist from Ashlyn Czerniak. After the assist, it was Czerniak who went on to net back-to-back goals for Batesville. Mohr finished off her hat trick with 7 minutes to play in the half as Ellie Cassidy played a corner kick to the back post where Mohr was waiting unmarked for the score.

In the second half, Batesville added to their lead as Werner scored in the 38th and 34th minute to match Mohr’s hat trick. Czerniak added her third tally in the 27th minute to make it a trio of Lady Bulldogs recording a hat trick. Gratz had two assists in the first half and got in on the scoring in the second half off another assist from Czerniak with 25 minutes to play in the game. Liz Heidlage was able to extend the lead to 11-0 with 21 minutes to play. Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Bulldogs was Ashley Nobbe off a beautiful cross from Jenna Puente.  Batesville will be back in action on Thursday as they travel to Rushville in a varsity only match beginning at 5:30 PM.
