In an early evening, The Lady Dogs are victorious in minimal sets.
From JV Coach Shelly Prickel: The Batesville JV Volleyball team picked up a conference road win vs. Rushville with the scores 25-18, 25-5. Maggie Walsman notched 16 service points including a team high 4 aces, while Anna Bauer scored 12 points with 3 aces. Tori Kurtz was aggressive at the net earning 5 kills. Nikki Fox, Margaret Weisbrod, and Kelsey Shupe added 2 kills a piece in the winning effort. The team improves to 9-1.
Varsity Bulldogs win: 25-16, 25-13, 25-19. While it wasn’t the most exciting of wins, it was the first time in ten matches we won (or lost) in minimum sets. We actually went into the match with a goal, point wise, which may of put to much pressure on us to just relax and play. Our serving was our strong suit as the team was hitting its spots and forcing the lady lions to return free balls or easy to handle out of system swings. (Abby Westerfeld #17 finished with 7 aces) We worked very hard in free ball transition over the last few days and that didn’t disappoint. We were able to stay in system alot. (Jenna Ertel had 13 digs) We are still mixing things up a bit in our rotations and positions to find that “right mix” to give us a high competitive edge going later in the season. Overall a solid team effort tonight with building blocks for the future.
Next Up: Jennings County at home on Thursday with a 6:00 JV start time, Varsity match to follow.
