The Batesville Lady Bulldogs traveled to Greensburg on Thursday evening to face the Lady Pirates in an EIAC matchup. The Lady Bulldogs set the tone early in the game by scoring just 18 seconds into the match. Batesville took the opening kickoff down the right side of the pitch as Olivia Knueven hit a cross into the feet of Lauren Gutzwiller who took the shot towards the back post through a crowd of Greensburg defenders. Carlie Werner and Liz Heidlage teamed up to score the 2nd and 3rd goals for the Lady Bulldogs. Heidlage found Werner open in the box on each goal. Abbey Prickel netted the Lady Bulldogs 4th score on an unassisted effort that Prickel intercepted a Lady Pirate pass and took it 30 yards down the field and hit a rocket from 25 yards out for the score. Ellie Cassidy scored the 5th goal of the game as Werner laid the ball back to the 18 yard box and Cassidy struck the ball off the crossbar and into the net.
The Lady Bulldogs were able to find the back of the net 5 times through the first 8 minutes of the game. Heidlage scored the 6th goal of the game as Catherine Raab was credited with the assist. Werner added the 7th and 8th goals of the half on some brilliant finished. Werner received a pass from Knueven at the corner of the 18, made a nifty move to free herself from the Greensburg defense, and ripped a hard shot into the far net. Heidlage assisted Werner on the 8th score. Freshman, Betsy Reidy got in on the scoring to add the 9th goal for the Lady Bulldogs off an assist by Raab. The 10th and final goal of the first half was scored by Raab assisted by Allie Savage. In the second half, many of the younger players for the Lady Bulldogs got the bulk of the minutes and Batesville added one more score for the game. Gutzwiller netted her 2nd goal of the match assisted by Prickel.
