Lady Bulldogs Basketball Results

The Batesville High School Varsity Girls Basketball team picked up a needed win on Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs defeated visiting South Dearborn by a score of 61-48.  

“It was good to get a win coming right off the loss to East Central,” BHS head coach Bryan Helvie commented. “We bounced right back with great effort and some confidence.

 
“We jumped out to a good start offensively, which allowed us to pressure more on the defensive end,” he added.
 
Junior Carley Pride led the first-quarter offensive effort with eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Pride’s eight points was part of a 19 point first quarter, which led to a six-point lead.
 
The Lady Bulldogs answered with 20 points in the second quarter to take a 17 point lead into halftime. Sarah Ripperger scored eight of the points to set the pace followed by five more from Pride.
 
The Lady Knights turned up the pressure in the second half and were able to cut into the deficit. South Dearborn outscored the Lady Bulldogs 26-22 over the final 16 minutes, but it was not enough.
 
Batesville preserved the victory by hitting 6-of-6 from the free-throw line. Batesville was 11-of-12 from the line for the game.
 
Pride finished with a game-high 20 points. She also finished with four assists and four steals. Ripperger was second on the team with 14 points, while Calley Kaiser grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds and scored nine points.
 

The Lady Bulldogs improved to 7-11 on the season with the victory.

The Lady Batesville JV basketball team was defeated by East Central last night 54-18. Although the score doesn’t dictate how hard the ladies played, we just couldn’t get baskets to fall. Shooting only 15% overall.

The leading scorer for the night was Avan Hanson with 6, followed by Billie Puente with 5. Rhea Miller led the dogs in rebounds with 5 and Ava and Claire Saner in steals with 3 each.  Other scorers for the night were Claire Saner-4, Oliva Raab-2, and Madelyn Pohlman-1.  The ladies will be back at it tonight at home as they take on South Dearborn.

Batesville took another loss Saturday night to South Dearborn 37-27. 

Ava Hanson was the leading scorer with 8 points. Alyssa Nobbe was strong on the boards and led the team with 6 rebounds.  Olivia Raab and Madelyn Pohlman led in steals with 3 each.  Other scorers for the dogs were Billie Puente, Madelyn Pohlman, and Claire Saner with 4 points, Kaylin Hinners, Rhea Miller, and Olivia Raab with 2, and Renee Lecher with 1. 

Batesville travels to Connersville on Tuesday.
