(Cincinnati, OH) – Kroger says it plans to close about 60 stores over the next 18 months.
The Cincinnati-based company operates more than 2,700stores nationwide, including one in Batesville plus subsidiary Jay C Food stores in Osgood and Milan.
Kroger has not said which stores would close.
Officials say the company took a $100 million impairment charge tied to the planned closings and expects the move to bring modest financial benefits.
Kroger says employees at affected stores will be offered positions at other locations.
