Junior high level boys basketball recaps from January 28-29.

In eighth grade boys basketball at the Mid Hoosier Conference Tournament, North Decatur downed Southwestern Shelby 56-36 in the semifinals.  Logan O’Dell dialed 17 points and five rebounds.  Garrett Schwering posted a double double with 12 points and 15 boards while Chase Youngman tallied 11 points and three assists.

The Chargers later fell in the championship game, 42-36 in overtime, to Hauser.  Youngman’s 12 points and eight by O’Dell were tops.  ND was outscored at the stripe 16-4 and ended a fine season with a record of 14-4.

The eighth grade SEIclones, a local travel basketball program, won the Midwest Youth Tournament Southern Indiana Explosion title in Sellersberg.  The locals earned the top seed for bracket day after winning a pair of pool play games.

The SEIclones defeated the Columbus Wolverines in the semifinals 67-42. Nick Watterson led with 20 points, Cayden Drake scored 16 while Trenten Luers and Owen Enneking both posted eight.

In the championship, the SEIclones pulled away from Clarksville Providence late to win 47-35. Top scorers in the title tilt were Braden Maple with 17 points, Watterson with 15 and Drake with nine.
