The following are girls junior high basketball recaps from Wednesday, February 16.
The St. Louis fifth grade pitched at 24-nothing shutout against Laurel. While the Cardinal defense was outstanding, the Redbirds Miki Gutzwiller had a big offensive night with 18 points.
Meanwhile, the Cardinal sixth grade nearly pulled off the same feat topping the Yellow Jackets 30-2. The team defensive effort was top notch. St. Lou got eight points each from Mary Kara Wanstrath and Ava Becker. Sophie Leising added six.
The St. Louis seventh grade recorded a 35-17 victory over St. Michael. The Cardinals Gina Grote buried three bombs and finished with 15 points. Jersey Trenkamp had several steals and also scored six points.
The eighth grade Cardinals dominated St. Michael by a count of 25-2. Cora Roth’s 11 points were a team high. Rachel Suttmann followed with six.
