Junior high girls basketball recaps from March 8

In the semifinal round of the SEI Girls Junior High Basketball Tournament, Milan’s eighth grade was a 29-16 winner over South Dearborn.  The Indians held the Squires to just six points in the second half.

Milan’s Kaiya Rinear led the floor with 15 points.  Teammate Emma Voss followed with 11.

The Batesville seventh grade advanced with a 32-24, hard-fought win over Sunman-Dearborn.  The Bulldogs had a great second quarter to go up 20-7.

For BMS, Mimi Smith had a double double with 10 points and 11 steals.  Kaylin Kathman scored nine.  Ella King and Sydney Campbell combined to pull down 23 rebounds and also teamed up to contribute nine points.

The St. Louis seventh grade got a semifinal win as well.  The Cardinals defeated Jac-Cen-Del 38-18.  After a slow first quarter that saw just eight total points, the Redbirds picked it up in the second and led 18-5 at the half, then 34-11 heading into the fourth.

For St. Lou, Belle Young finished with 13 points, eight of which came in the third quarter.  Aubrey Baker had seven points and was a force on the glass.  Olivia Leising added six points.

Bedel’s nine points led the Eagles and Simon scored six.

Championship games will be played in the Milan High School gym on Thursday with the seventh grade at 5:30 pm followed afterwards by the eighth.
