The following are girls basketball junior high recaps from February 7-10.
North Decatur’s seventh grade got by South Decatur 27-25.
ND’s Sarah Moeller and Jewel Versman both scored nine.
The Charger eighth grade beat the Cougars 32-15.
Jo Whitaker of North notched 14 points and teammate Shelby Zapfe scored eight.
Batesville’s eighth grade lost to Greendale 35-16. The team played good all-around defense but could not convert on the offensive end.
The St. Louis sixth grade rolled to a 26-4 victory at Mount Carmel. Nine different Cardinals contributed to the scoring and the defense made it tough for the opposition to advance the ball.
The St. Lou fifth grade was a 21-10 winner over Mt. Carmel. Bella Watson accounted for eight points. Miki Gutzwillier scored six and Maci Smith added five. The whole team played tenacious defense.
The Batesville seventh grade girls defeated St. Louis 35-20. It was the first loss of the season for the Cardinals got eight points from Gina Grote and Belle Young with seven.
For the victorious Bulldogs, Kaylin Kathman scored seven while Ellie Westerfeld, Mimi Smith and Ella King all put in six.
St. Louis won the eighth grade game over BMS, 26-22.
The Redbirds Rachel Suttmann had a team-high 14 points with nine coming in the fourth quarter where St. Lou was down seven at the start. The Cardinals outscored the Bulldogs 13-2 in the final frame.
Batesville had an impressive 12 offensive rebounds but could not take advantage of the second chance opportunities.
North Decatur’s eighth grade lost to Milan 42-15.
Kendall Hostkoetter’s six points led ND. Teammate Annie Waechter logged five.
The St. Louis seventh grade dominated North Decatur 33-5. The Cardinals scored a lot of points off of the press.
Belle Young posted 12 points for St. Lou and hit a pair of threes. Olivia Leising scored six and had numerous steals.
Jewel Verseman’s three points were tops for the Chargers.
The eighth grade Cards also handled the Chargers 36-14.
North’s Annie Waechter scored five while Joe Whitaker and Libby Crawford followed with four each.
The St. Louis eighth greade outlasted St. Mary of Aurora 26-23 in double overtime.
Rachel Suttmann finished with nine points, Bella Young added five and Cora Roth scored four or the Cardinals.
