Judith “Judy” Vanskee Leonard, 73 years old of Sunman, IN passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on Wednesday, January 4, 2023. Originally from Western Hills, when Judy met her husband, Bob, they moved to New Baltimore before settling down in Sunman on a beautiful horse farm with her husband, Bob. Being the guy that could fix anything, Bob was busy working on Judy’s Volkswagen when they met. Her big heart won him over and they were married on April 28, 1986 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in New Alsace. On the farm, they raised horses and enjoyed horseback riding. Judy loved tending to her garden of flowers and vegetables and liked to can the vegetables at the end of the season. Judy was always active so when she wasn’t busy with something at home, you could find her immersed in her volunteer activities at All Saints Parish. She was the President of Ladies Sodality for several years, ran the 250 club, sang in the choir at St. Paul’s Campus and was a Pax Christi minister.
Judy will be deeply missed by Bob, her husband of 36 years; children Melissa (Howard) Jacobs of Eastgate, Hollie (Johnny) Burke of Colerain, and Jeremy Leonard of New Baltimore; siblings Mike Vanskee, Betty (Harvey) Oury, and Matt Vanskee. Judy is preceded in death by her brother Mark Vanskee and parents Ruth & Joseph Vanskee.
Visitation for Judy will be held on Saturday, January 7 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church of All Saints Parish. Rosary will begin at 11:45am. Visitation will run from 12:00pm – 1:00. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1:00 and burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery.
