Joseph Martin Lamppert, age 83 passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016 at his home in Sunman, IN. Born March 18, 1933 at his parents, Frank & Martha (Riehle) Lamppert’s log cabin and where he currently lives on the farm.
The 1951 Sunman High School graduate & US Army veteran during Korea retired from Hill-Rom as supervisor of the paint line and in his earlier years he also farmed.
Joe married Carolyn Hite at St. Michaels in Brookville, IN on April 12, 1958 and was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church. He liked to play cards especially bid euchre. There was a pond on his land and he loved to fish & hunt deer. He liked being outdoors, loved his farm and watching the deer & turkey’s.
Joe is survived by his wife Carolyn Lamppert, children Susan Batta (George) of Sunman, IN, Stephen Lamppert of Sunman and Sandra K. Hammond (Michael) of Loveland, OH. He will also be missed by his grandchildren Christina Stratton, Andrew Batta, Michael Batta, Emily Batta & Michelle Hammond along with 7 great grandchildren and his brother Robert Lamppert. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Alvin (Butch) Lamppert and his sister Virginia Mehlon.
Joe’s wishes were to be cremated and private graveside services, at St. Nicholas Church Cemetery, will be held at the convenience of the family.
