John Paul Frantz, 74, passed away Monday May 25, 2020 at his home in Burlington, Kentucky.
He was born September 15, 1945 in Fort Wayne, IN, son of the late Darrel Frantz and Vivian (Swartz) Frantz. John spent his childhood in Sidney, Indiana. He graduated Purdue University, and worked for General Foods and Burger Chef. Embracing the life of an entrepreneur, John was owner/operator of the Health Care S.E., for 21 years. In addition, he was owner/operator of Hobby Hut, Royal Coach Ambulance Service and Royal Coach Taxi Service.
While living in Florida, John was a member of the Mexico Beach Planning & Zoning, Turtle Patrol and started the Panama City Bop & Shag Club with his wife Kim.
His many hobbies made him a bit of a modern day renaissance man. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, swing dancing, becoming a Master Gardener, minor league baseball, old bluegrass/country music, Monarch butterflies, and cruises to warm and beautiful islands with Kim, just to name a few. Playing with his grandsons was his favorite activity. He was a volunteer EMT and enjoyed refurbishing antiques, especially clocks. Those who visited his office prior to his retirement, could not help but be impressed by his collection of repaired clocks, especially at noon.
John is survived by his loving spouse Kimberly (Ulrey) Frantz of Burlington, KY, daughters, Kristan (Matt) Donk of Fort Wayne, IN, Robin Ashcraft of Greendale, IN, Elizabeth (Gerald) South of Richmond, IN, Sarah (Nick) Rollins of Savage, MN, and son Christopher Brockman of Burlington, KY; sister, Mary (Dennis) Anderson of Warsaw, IN; mother-in-law, Barbara Ulrey, Burlington, KY, and bestest of best friends, Poppy. He deeply loved and will be missed by his grandsons, Alex Juliano, Oliver South, Jack Rollins, Jason Turner and Chris Turner; niece, Kara (Nicholas) Schaefer; great-nephews, Liam & Dylan Schafer; great-grandchildren, Boston and Liam Turner, Ava Knaus, Harper Turner, and many family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents,and a son, Donald Frantz.
Memorial visitation will be Saturday, June 20, 2020 at the Aurora Pavilion, 415 Park Ave., Aurora, IN. 47001, from 1:00 – 4:00 pm, with services to follow at 4:00 pm. Masks would be appreciated. Also the family would like everyone to feel free to wear a T-shirt or Hawaiian Shirt for John.
