John M. Bevis, 55, Greensburg

John Michael “Johnny” Bevis, 55, of Greensburg, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the Willows of Greensburg, following a courageous two-year battle after suffering a stroke. He was born on May 10, 1970, in Batesville, Indiana, the son of John R. Bevis and Carmen Nunlist.

Johnny proudly served his country in the United States Army, a commitment that remained one of the greatest honors of his life. Though his multiple tours overseas were challenging, he believed deeply that there was no higher calling than defending his family and his country. He was a devoted protector of all he loved and a quiet genius whose inner strength spoke louder than words.

Following his military career, Johnny later built a career as a truck driver. He found joy in exploring new places along his routes and never missed an opportunity to share pictures from his travels. He loved connecting with friends through virtual games, attending sprint-car and dragster racing events, and playing his guitars. Above all, he cherished time with his friends, family, and especially his grandchildren.

Johnny is survived by his daughter, Brittany (Tom) Kurtz; grandchildren: Bradley, Zoey, Kane, and Luke; mother, Carmen Nunlist; sisters: Lori Miller and Angela Brummett.

He was preceded in death by his father, John, and his brother, Scott Lindewald.

A private celebration of life and military honors ceremony will be held for family and friends at a later date.

Please feel free to leave a memory or message of comfort for Johnny’s family in the online guestbook at www.meyersfuneralhomes.com.
