After 87 remarkable years, JoAnn Tichenor closed her eyes for the final time on April 3, 2026. JoAnn approached life with an unbridled enthusiasm, whether she was riding her horses, planting flowers, enjoying her beautiful relations with her family or spending time with the love of her life, Marvin. She was a devoted parent, beloved wife and a cherished sister and friend. She was born July 4,1938 in Westport, Indiana. She had been a resident of Decatur County the majority of her life and attended Jackson Township High School with the class of 1955. She was a homemaker, farmer, horse breeder and worked at Bon Aluminum for 10 years. She waitressed for many years where she made lasting friendships. She enjoyed riding her horses, planting flowers and playing with the grandchildren. She was a member of the Waynesburg Christian Church, 4-H of Decatur County, the American Horse Association and the American Paint Horse Association. She was even Indiana State Champion for the Indiana Cornhuskers Association. She married the love of her life, Marvin Tichenor on April 22, 1999, in Vernon, Indiana. JoAnn is survived by her husband, Marvin Tichenor of Greensburg, 2 daughters, Deanna K. (Rick) Denney of Greencastle, Stephanie Jo (Oliver) Ogle of Greensburg, 2 sons, William L. “Bill” Pearl, Jr. and David A. (Darlene) Pearl, her sister, Mary Lou (Norman) Garrett, 24 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Andrew & Opal Noe, her sister, Donita Kay Schroeder, her daughter, Athena Ann Gearhart and 2 grandsons, Christopher Pearl and Allen Pearl. Funeral will be held at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Jay Vanderbur officiating. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 9 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 at the funeral home. Final resting place will be Shirk Cemetery.
