The Reds will be back on a diamond tonight, when they begin their visit to the Yankees in New York.  Cincinnati will be coming off that odd 2 & 2 series with the Cardinals, hoping to lock in some consistency.  And some victories…  the Reds have now lost 10 of their last 15 games, and haven’t won any of their last 6 series, but they’ve shown they can explode for a ton of offense when they want to.  Cincy’s got only 39 wins against 45 losses on the season, while the Yankees are riding high at 54 & 32.  Graham Ashcraft gets the pitching start for the Reds, against New York’s Luis Gil.  Be with us for the broadcast, when it arrives on your radio at 6:35, on the Sports Voice, 103.9 WRBI.

Despite their recent lack of success all together, there are some bright lights for the Reds, and 2nd baseman Jonathan India is one of them.  He’s been named National League Player of the Week, with a .539 batting average and 10 doubles.  And remember he’s had doubles in 8 straight games, in a 3-way tie for one of the best streaks of 2-base hits since 1900.

We’ve told you about Batesville High product Bryan Hoeing still working his way back toward the big leagues– last weekend he put together a 2-hitter, with a pair of strikeouts, his second straight relief victory.

Another former Bulldog, Zach Britton, is batting .285 over his last 5 games for Double-A New Hampshire, in the Toronto Blue Jays organization.  Over that stretch, Zach’s also got 6 RBI’s, 2 doubles, and a home run.

A massive young people’s swim meet was held over the weekend in Greensburg, at the Southeastern Indiana Swim Association championships.  Those 7 various clubs had taken each other on in dual meets throughout the spring and early summer, but this time, they were all competing together.  Milan Aquatics, which had done well in the duals, got all its 40 swimmers stroking in the right direction, winning it all with 1881 team points.  Greensburg-Decatur County came in 2nd with 1760, and Batesville was 3rd at 1297 ½.  We’ve got some of the numbers on WRBIRadio dot com, as Milan takes the SEISA trophy for a 2nd straight year.  Some of its top individual performers were Brody and Taylor Stock, each winning 4 races, Lindsey Franklin who took 3, and Kami Laws, Caiden Felver, and Seth Thomas, who each won 2.
