As springtime winds down the basketball season, it also signals that the diamond life is in view, with 2024 baseball on the way. WRBI is your Cincinnati Reds station, and we’ve been able to talk this week with broadcaster Tommy Thrall, who agrees that the club’s made the kinds of off-season moves this year that should be encouraging to any fan. Those moves include acquiring left-handed pitcher Brent Suter from the Rockies on a 1-year, 2 ½-million dollar deal, with an option for 2025. He’s from Cincinnati, and tells us he’s pretty excited to be playing literally at home, about 15 minutes from his house. We’ll bring you Brent and some of his high energy tomorrow, right here.
Our only boys’ basketball game of last night saw the South Ripley Raiders knock off Shawe Memorial 78 to 62.
This evening, the last several girls’ games of the regular season are being played, with East Central at Connersville, Jac-Cen-Del going to Southwestern of Hanover, Lawrenceburg visiting Greensburg, North Decatur at Edinburgh, and the game we’ll have on the air for you, Switzerland County at Oldenburg Academy. Join us for pregame coverage about 7:15 tonight, with the tipoff at 7:30, on the Sports Voice, WRBI. The playoffs are coming– girls’ sectionals begin Tuesday.
Men’s college basketball last night saw the Sycamores of Indiana State take their 16 & 3 record to the state next door, into a Missouri Valley Conference matchup with the Flames of Illinois-Chicago. And ISU went ahead and extinguished the Flames, even if the final was a bit closer than the Sycamores might like, 89 to 83.
