Janine M. Bentley of Brookville was born on December 8, 1950, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of Richard and Odette Loubard Craighead. She married Alex Bentley on November 26, 1975, and he preceded her in death on December 20, 2013. Janine was a teacher for 36 years, and taught first graders at Laurel Elementary when the new school opened. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and St. Gabriel Church in Connersville where she played the organ. Janine enjoyed volunteering at Laurel Elementary and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. On Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at the age of 65, Janine passed away at Brookville Healthcare Center.
Those surviving who will cherish Janine’s memory include her son, Jody (Carrie) Bentley of Brookville; daughters, Misty (Eric) Barrett of Brookville, and Renee Bentley, also of Brookville; grandchildren, Bentley, Brianna, Callie, and Finley, and one brother, Scott Craighead of Liberty. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sister, Julie Foster, and brother, Steve Craighead.
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, May 1, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville. Rosary will begin at 3:30. Fr. Dustin Boehm and Fr. Stan Herber will lead the funeral service, at the funeral home, on Monday at 10 a.m. Burial in Everton Cemetery will follow.
