Janet D. Mack, 86, of Holton passed away at 11:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born at the Whitlatch Clinic in Milan on April 29, 1937, the daughter of Walter and Selma Stagg Walsh. She was married to Travis Mack on September 18, 1955, and her husband of 68 years survives. Other survivors include one son Kevin (Debbie) Mack of Versailles; two grandchildren, Brad Tunny of Mooresville, North Carolina and Kristi (Chris) Wicker of Seymour; great-grandchildren Braxton Tunny, and Blake and Brooklyn Schneider; step-great-grandchildren Nick and Kyle Wicker. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Rhonda Tunny, and her brother Dennis Walsh. Mrs. Mack was a 1955 graduate of Holton High School. Her working career spanned many years, working as a cook at the Holton School and later managing the bookstore at South Ripley and also serving as a teacher’s aide. She and Travis spent their winters in Florida, this being the first time in 39 years that they were not able to go. Her hobbies included fishing, playing cards, and going to the Florida flea markets. Janet was a member of the Holton Christian Church and attended the Dabney Baptist Church. She had also served for many years on the Holton Cemetery Board. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 4 at 11 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Troy Green of the Dabney Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Dabney Baptist Church or the Holton Fire Department in care of the funeral home. |
