In Jim’s younger years, he played football and basketball in school, having the distinction of serving as the captain of Batesville High School’s first football team. He also played baseball during summer and would become a member of the Oldenburg Villagers semi-pro team of the Tri-County League. Depending on which story you believe, it was the very same team that may or may not have cut Sandy Kolfax. What mattered most for Jim was “family, family, family and family” He attended his kids and grandkids events and activities without fail, regardless of the distance and loved nothing better than spending time with them.
He is survived by his daughters Cyndi (Steve) Voegele of St. Leon, Debbi Obermeyer of Batesville, Julie Meyer of Cincinnati, Angele (Randy) Jobst of Batesville, Cammie (J.R. Hughey) Pierson of St. Peter’s; son Kevin (Lori) Doyle of Oldenburg; sister Martha Geier of St. Leon; sister-in-law Jayne Peetz of Oldenburg; 23 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren with another one on the way; 4 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he is also preceded in death by his son Jimmy Doyle; sisters Helen Herd, Leona Walterman and grandson Killian Doyle.
