James “Jim” Charles Mara, age 79, of Greendale, Indiana, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024, in Fairfield, Ohio. Born October 5, 1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of James Patrick and Alice Rose (Kleinwaechter) Mara.
Jim graduated from the University of Cincinnati Summa Cum Laude, married Phyllis Deiner on December 3, 1971, in Greendale, Indiana. Jim, a retired Captain from the Cincinnati Fire Department, also served our country in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. Member of Harrison VFW Post #7570, American legion Post #199, Harrison, and Post # 239 Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
Survived by his son Jim (Dawn) Mara. Grandfather of Nikki (Zach Schott) Mara, and Jimmy Mara Jr.
Preceded by his parents James and Alice Mara, siblings Patricia Alice Wells and Kathleen Rose Larkin.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from 11:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 1:00 P.M., with Pastor Shawn Crisman officiating, all at Jackman Hensley Funeral Home, 215 East Broadway Street, Harrison, Ohio 45030. A burial will follow at Gibson Cemetery Bright, Indiana, with military honors provided by the United States Air Force and Harrison Honor Guard.
