Jaisle’s Walk-off seals the deal in Batesville varsity baseball’s win over Rushville

Batesville varsity baseball defeated Rushville Boys Baseball 3-2 on Thursday thanks to a walk-off single by Will Jaisle in the bottom of the seventh.

The pitching was strong on both sides, with Jack Grunkemeyer striking out 13 for the Bulldogs while Tyler Smith sat down two for the Lions.

Batesville took an early lead in the second, scoring two runs.

In the top of the fourth inning, Rushville tied things up at two when two runs were scored on an Alex Reynolds single.

That all leading up to Jaisle’s walkoff single in the seventh.

Grunkemeyer was the winning pitcher for the Bulldogs. The pitcher lasted seven innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out 13 and walking one.

Smith took the loss for the Lions. The righty surrendered three runs on seven hits over six innings, striking out two.

Batesville tallied eight hits in the game. Carter Bohman and Eli Loichinger both had two hits to lead Batesville Varsity Bulldogs.

Keegan Bowles went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Rushville Baseball in hits. Alex Reynolds went 1-for-3 and knocked in both runs for the Lions.
