Jack Grunkemeyer’s walk-off double lifts Batesville to 4-3 victory over Franklin County

It came down to the wire on Tuesday, with Batesville varsity baseball taking the victory on a dramatic walk-off two-run double by Jack Grunkemeyer in the bottom of the seventh to earn a 4-3 comeback victory over Franklin County.

Eli Loichinger pitched the Bulldogs to victory. The righty went two and two-thirds innings, allowing zero runs on two hits, striking out one, and walking zero.

Eli Butt took the loss for Franklin County Varsity Wildcats. The hurler allowed one run on two hits and walked zero.

Brant Ertel started the game for Franklin County Varsity Wildcats, lasting five innings, allowing four hits and zero runs while striking out six and walking one.

Grunkemeyer started the game for Batesville Varsity Bulldogs. The pitcher went four and one-third innings, allowing three runs on four hits and striking out seven.

Batesville tallied eight hits on the day. Cade Kaiser and Charlie Schebler led the Bulldogs with two hits each.

Chase Burton went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Franklin County in hits.
