Ivy Tech Batesville offers free suicide prevention training

BATESVILLE, IN — Ivy Tech Community College is offering free suicide prevention training to local business leaders and community members Wednesday, April 20 from 3 until 4 pm at the college’s Business Conference Center in Batesville.

“Suicides since the beginning of the pandemic have risen 101%, and we were looking for something to do as a community service, and we want to get some normalcy back into the community,” said Ivy Tech Batesville Employer Consultant Matt Dole.

“It’s a very sensitive subject and it’s very hard to address one-on-one,” Dole added. “This course kind of explains what people are looking for, how you can help as an individual when someone is in that situation.”

The training will be conducted by a certified counselor.

To register, email Dole at [email protected] by the end of business Tuesday.
