ISP Investigating Officer-Involved Shooting

(Rushville, IN) – Indiana State Police detectives are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Rushville that occurred during a domestic disturbance call Friday night.

Authorities say they responded to a home on the 200 block of E. 5th Street where they saw a man walking out with a woman while holding a gun.

Police say they told the man to drop the weapon but he didn’t comply, which led to the gunfire.

The man was hit by the bullets and died at the scene.

His name is being held pending notification of family members.

The woman suffered a non-life-threatening injury, and was treated at the scene and released.

The names of the officers involved will be disclosed at the discretion of the Rushville Police Department and Rush County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident remains under investigation.
